Gunnedah is a town located in the Liverpool Plains and is located on the Namoi River with a population of approximately 10,000. Prior to 1833 or 1834 when the town was settled by European sheep farmers it was originally home to Aboriginals speaking the Kamilaroi (Gamilaraay) language. The area produces cotton, coal, beef, lamb, pork, cereal and oil seed grains. Gunnedah is home to Agquip being Australia’s largest annual Agricultural Field Day which attracts thousands of visitors to the area. Mining is also a big part of Gunnedah when in 2012 Gunnedah experienced a mining boom. Dorothea MacKeller wrote her famous poem “My Country” (more famously known as I Love A Sunburnt Country) about her family’s farm near Gunnedah. The town is known as the “Koala Capital of the world”. We are proud to be part of the Gunnedah community and provide a high quality finance and mortgage broking service to the area.
